Best Practices in Cost Estimating

With fluctuating costs due to current labor shortages and global supply chain issues, do you still have reliable cost estimates for your projects?

Do you need to perform cost estimating differently in today’s challenging times?

Cost estimating in projects, especially in the construction industry, has always been challenging, with so many unknowns around resources and constraints.

However, the challenges we face in projects today are unprecedented, especially now more than ever.

The post-covid era has brought about several complications around global supply chain issues and labor shortages in projects. The ongoing economic turmoil has added fuel to the fire and is disrupting the industry with erratic escalations in price, which has further complicated the process of cost estimation in projects.

Undoubtedly, these challenging circumstances have made estimating accurate costs in projects almost impossible.

However, it’s time we accept this fact and start aligning ourselves to adjust to this new transition phase in the global environment, whatever that may be.

To achieve this, we must first modify tried and true methodologies in cost estimating to align them better with the current construction project environment.

The fundamentals of cost engineering remain the same; however, it’s necessary to adapt them to best suit our current needs and tackle the various challenges in front of us.

But how?

How can we adapt Cost Estimating practices to align with today’s challenges?

We invite you to join this upcoming highlight informative masterclass with Bill Canterbury, CEP, PSP, PRMP, CCM, a Cost Estimating SME, and the President of Canterbury Construction Management Services, along with your host Shohreh Ghorbani, from Project Control Academy.

In this masterclass, you’ll explore how you can align best practices in cost engineering to suit the challenges we face in these challenging times. Learn how and why you need to make changes to cost-estimating methodologies and understand what the ‘new’ normal looks like.
