How best to prepare for the 4th Industrial Revolution?

Here are 4 principles to follow to prepare for the 4th industrial revolution:

Principle #1: Be Proactive in Shaping the Technology

Technology is reshaping our economic, social, cultural and individual lives, so you need to be open to changes and be proactive in shaping this technology and disruption.

Principle #2: Put People First

Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum in his book “The Fourth Industrial Revolution”, calls for leaders and citizens to “together shape a future that works for all by putting people first, empowering them and constantly reminding ourselves that all of these new technologies are first and foremost tools made by people for people.”

Remember these new technologies are “tools made by people for people.” So, as a leader make sure you always put your people first.

Principle #3: Develop Leaders with New Skills

Talking about putting people first, you also need to develop leaders with new skills to manage projects and organizations through the adoption of the new technologies and the dramatic shifts

You need to realize that what your job is today might be completely different in the near future.

Do you have the right education and training in preparation of future jobs? Are you actively pursuing new skills?

In perpetration for the 4th industrial revolution, our education and training systems need to adapt to better prepare us for the flexibility and critical thinking skills that we will need in the future workplace.

Principle #4: Invest in Technical Infrastructure

In addition to individual future-readiness, companies should also invest in their technical infrastructure and data analyzing capabilities, or they will soon fall behind the competition.
